Breton team carry out remote repair job on Lihou

It’s all systems go on Lihou. Breton’s Small Works team is in the process of carrying out repairs to the house, following damage sustained during Storm Ciaran last November. It’s a tricky process with access restricted by the tides, and all materials having to be carried by tractor and trailer to the island.

Three staff had to stay over on the island for two nights in March for the initial strip out. And access is now via the causeway, giving staff a few hours at a time to carry out the repairs (depending on the tides). All materials, equipment and rubbish have to be transported on and off the island by the island’s warden, using his tractor and trailer.
